Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Elisy (elisy.org) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data across the public wiki, our Discord server, and our AI bot.

By using the Site or our community spaces, you agree to this Policy.

Scope

The MediaWiki site at elisy.org (registration, editing, uploads, discussions).
Our official Discord server.
The AI bot using services of Discord and Google to process messages and return answers.

Public wiki basics

Most contributions (pages, edits, uploads, discussions, user pages) are public and persist in page history.
Edits by unregistered users publicly show the IP address.
Edits by registered users publicly show the username; the user’s IP is not public, but may be stored in logs/database for security and abuse prevention.

Data we process

Account data: username, password hash, email (for resets/notifications), optional profile info.
Contributions: edits, uploads, discussions, watchlist preferences, timestamps, metadata.
Technical logs: IP, user-agent, referrers, pages viewed, session IDs, error/security events.
Cookies: essential (login/session, CSRF), preferences (UI/language), security/rate-limit.
Discord: your Discord handle, avatar, and messages you post in Elisy channels (subject to Discord’s terms).
AI bot: messages you send to the bot and necessary context may be sent to Discord and Google services to generate responses. Limited logs are retained only as needed for reliability, security, and debugging; we do not routinely review them.

Purposes & legal bases

We process data to provide wiki and community features, secure the service (anti-abuse/fraud), operate the Discord server and AI bot, communicate with you (service messages/moderation), comply with law, and improve the service using aggregated/de-identified information where possible. Legal bases include legitimate interests, performance of a service, and legal obligations. Where consent is required (e.g., certain non-essential cookies), you can withdraw it via browser/Discord settings.

Cookies

We use essential and preference cookies and limited security/performance tooling. Blocking essential cookies may break login and editing.

Public content is public by design.
Processors (hosting, CDN/security, email, analytics, Discord, Google) under contractual safeguards.
Moderation/safety access for trusted admins to investigate abuse and enforce rules.
Legal disclosures when required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International transfers

Data may be processed outside your country. We apply appropriate safeguards where required.

Retention

Public contributions: kept indefinitely to preserve the public record.
Accounts: kept while active; upon request we can close and, where feasible, rename/pseudonymize attribution (page history is generally preserved).
Security/server logs: typically up to 90 days, longer if needed for incidents/legal reasons.
Bot logs: kept only as necessary for reliability, safety, and debugging.

Your rights

EEA/UK/Switzerland: access, rectify, erase (subject to wiki public-record limits), restrict, object, portability, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
California: know/access, delete (with exceptions), correct, and opt-out of sale/share (we don’t sell/share).

To exercise rights, email [email protected]. We may verify your identity. For attribution concerns, we usually offer account renaming/pseudonymization while preserving edit history integrity.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (TLS, access controls, backups, rate-limiting, moderation tools). No method is perfect — use a strong, unique password.

Children

Elisy is intended for users 13+ (or your jurisdiction’s age of digital consent). If a child’s data was provided, contact us to remove it.

Changes

We may update this Policy. Changes will be posted here with a new effective date; material changes may also be announced on the Site or Discord.
